Jascots' partnership with Champagne Pannier features online in the weeks top news stories from Leading European drinks trade publication, The Drinks Business.
Pannier joins forces with Jascots
by Gabriel Savage
Champagne Pannier has agreed a UK distribution partnership with on-trade specialist merchant Jascots.
The deal will see the Champagne brand expand its presence in this market beyond Jockey Club racecourses and Eurostar.
The Pannier portfolio includes its EV Brut Sélection, a blend of 40% Chardonnay with equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The "EV" stands for "extra vieillissement", indicating that the wine is aged for three and a half years before release, with 25% reserve wines used to ensure consistency.
Jascots will also have access to Pannier's reserve stock, including its 1998 Blanc de Noirs in magnum.
The partnership comes just months after the merchant announced plans to double its turnover within the next five years, primarily by stepping up its level of service to the on-trade, which represents 85% of Jascots' business.
Terency Kenny, export director for Pannier praised "the professionalism and wine knowledge of the Jascots team, being equal only to the integrity and sound management of its principals".
Meanwhile Jascots' managing director John Charnock, who joined the company last September, remarked: "We're really pleased to have formed a partnership with Champagne Pannier. Jascots' strength is the on- trade, and we are the best in field at what we do."
