Rules of Engagement

Here you will find the sequence of events and the all important rules of play!

Upon arrival the “Players” are greeted with a Champagne reception which is essential to prepare body and soul for the match that is to follow!

Once relaxed, your “Challenge Master” summons the attention of all players and will arrange teams, elect “Team Speakers” and will run through the basic principals of the game providing hints and tips on how to taste wine.

On each table player will find a “Challenge Sheet” in the form of a multiple choice questionnaire and the first wine poured and ready to taste.

Players will “huddle” while tasting and devising the answers. Your Challenge Master and Jascots helpers will attend the teams allowing the elected speaker one indirect question.

Teams that are struggling will be given extra hints while the clever teams may be thrown a few curved balls.

After about 5 minutes your master will call “Pens Down”. The wine is now discussed with elected speakers will be asked to share their choices opening a forum in which ideas, answers and playful banter are bounced back and forth around the room.

Teams are awarded 5 points for each correct answer allowing a maximum of 25 points per wine. An important rule to keep in mind is that the Challenge Master does hold the power to award negative points for anything they so wish whether it be a silly tie or good/bad manners.

All 8 wines are tasted in this manner which generally takes 2 hours at the end of which prizes are awarded. The winning team members all receive a Magnum, the runners up a bottle of wine, and the losers are awarded wooden spoons.

To conclude the evening “Biggie” bottles are opened for all to consume
