Angelo Rocca & Figli, Rocca Rosso, Puglia IGT, Italy 2005
" This fantastic wine is the result of a late harvest of grapes coming from small, old vineyards and five years of ageing in big Slavonian oak casks. The colour is ruby red with garnet highlights - it's a huge wine but soft and supple with pleasant spicey notes and a long, persistent finish. "

Angelo Rocca &Figli
Vinicola Rocca was founded by Francesco Rocca in 1880, and the Rocca family name has been synonymous with winemaking ever since - the company has grown and grown over four generations and the passion for producing great wines has been passed down over the years. In 1936, Francesco's son Angelo built a cellar in Nardo, Apulia and the first bottling line was bought in 1960 which lead to the beginning of a wider distribution of the Rocca family wines.
Nowadays, the winery is run by Ernesto Rocca (Francesco's grandson) ably assisted by his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a black grape variety which produces red wines of high quality in many wine-producing regions world-wide. Its hallmark characteristics are black fruit flavours, particularly blackcurrant, and often a menthol or eucalyptus secondary note. It is a hardy grape able to grow in both hot and cooler climates alike.
Cabernet Sauvignon's traditional home is Bordeaux in South-West France, where it is commonly blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc to produce what is known as a 'Bordeaux Blend'. Such blends are increasingly popular in other parts of the wine-making world such as South Africa, Australia and South America. It is also found as a varietal wine, particularly in New World regions such as Coonawarra in Australia or Napa Valley, California.
