Frizzante Prosecco has a gentler fizz than its counterpart spumante, making it a lighter, more easy drinking style. It also has the added advantage of a crown cap, so opening a bottle couldn't be easier at parties.
Enrico Bedin
The Bedin winery rises at the foot of the hills that surround the medieval town of Asolo: the "Colli Asolani", as they are known. Not far from Venice, in the heart of the Marca Trevigiana - a territory that is a unique combination of natural beauty, historic and artistic heritage and excellent food and hospitality - these smooth hills represent not only a charming destination for visitors but also an ideal terroir for the production of Prosecco. In this lovely natural setting, the Bedin family established its farm in 1948 and started producing quality wines with passion and dedication passed down from father to son for many generations. The production of this medium-sized family-run company derives from a deep devotion to the land, that combines with both tradition and innovation for a special commitment to excellence.
Veneto
The Veneto is an extremely important region in the north-east of Italy, stretching from the west at the shores of Lake Garda as far north as the Alps, the Austrian border and the Venetian hinterland. It is Italy's largest wine-producing region.
DOC wines represent well over a quarter of total production and include such well-known names as Valpolicella, Soave, Bardolino and Prosecco. Corvina and Garganega grape varieties are commonly used for red and white wines respectively, while sparkling wines from the Prosecco DOC are made from its namesake grape variety.
Prosecco
Prosecco is a white grape variety native to the Veneto in North-East Italy, most commonly known as a sparkling wine known as Prosecco di Conegliano DOC. This sparkling wine comes in two main forms, both made using the charmat method - frizzante is gently sparkling while spumante is fully sparkling. Both are light, dry and refreshing and ideal as an aperitif or an economical alternative to Champagne.
