This is the Mellots' pinacle achievement. Producing Pinot Noir in Sancerre actually goes back hundreds of years, to a time before Sauvignon Blanc was in accendance, and the Mellots were still here, still making wine even then, featuring in records that date back to 1513. Hence the 'XIXth Generation' label - this is the product of many lifetimes' work.
In this specially pinpointed area of the Mellots' vineyards are their oldest vines that produce very low yields of more concentrated grapes yet, even here, many are cast away early in the season for being unfit for duty.
The result is a wine with a phenomenal explosion of sumptuously classy and refined spiced cherries, outlined by dark, smoky and flinty characters that uplift the ultimately satisfying, fresh and luxurious experience.
