What's Hot To Try!
In the past few weeks we have held a couple of large tastings for clients with some great feedback on our supercharged reds!
Here are a few of the show stoppers:
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2001, Domaine Louis Boillot
A well respected client sent us a message regarding this wine simply saying...
"THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS FAB RED!! WAW!!!!
Chateau Beauregard Ducasse 2003, Graves, France
This is the 'baby' Ducasse, sibling to the more esteemed 'Premier Cuvee' that the fourth generation wine grower and oenological genius Jacques Perromat has also produced. Though it is the 'lesser' wine, we did certainly fall in love with it after discovering the sheer quality that the hot 2003 vintage had supercharged the wine with!
Chateau Beauregard Ducasse 1er Cuvee 2005, Graves, France
The ‘Premier Cuvee’ is made from the very best selected tanks and the wine is gently matured in new French oak ‘barriques’ for 12 to 18 months before bottling. It is powerful and hugely flavoursome with great chunks of rich, black fruit flavours softening tannins letting the wine’s concentration of fruit really come through.
Angus ‘The Bull’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Hamish McGowan, South Australia
Another Howitzer in a succession of Blockbuster Cabernets by young Wine Maker, Hamish McGowan and what a thumpingly fabulous wine this is; we think the 2005 is the best wine he’s made since his inaugural 90 Parker Point 2002. Dark purple, juicy, slightly smokey and spicy red but with lovely, pure Cabernet flavours and generously swamped in blackberries and redcurrants and that wonderful rich, oaky envelope.
