Glaetzer, Shiraz 2004, Barossa, Australia

Colin and his winemaker son Ben craft small volumes of super-premium wines, using exceptional fruit from ancient, dry-grown vineyards in the Ebenezer district of the valley. With minimal intervention, they turn this fruit into wines which show Glaetzer's trademark elegance and complexity.

Glaetzer Shiraz is the family's flagship wine. This limited production, luxury wine is made exclusively with premium fruit sourced from 80 to 115 year-old, dry grown vines in the Northern Ebenezer district of the Barossa.

This is a powerful, rich wine which blends intensity with the Glaetzer hallmarks of complexity and elegance. A brooding nose which takes time in the glass to evolve. Initially showing cracked pepper, mulberry and wisps of earthy spice the wine shows a multitude of aromas after breathing to display ripe plums and crushed herbs. The palate has supple tannin structure which supports masses of briary fruit and rich chocolate and roasted coffee flavours. The wine will age well for 10 years.
