Valle Central
The Valle Central is a large area of Chile covering the regions of Maipo, Rapel, Curicó and Maule; a distance of almost 250 miles. It is an extremely important region for the volume of wine produced. Because of the size, the area covers a number of different climate types from the cooler mountains to the warmer desert. A variety of grape varieties can be found here including: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Carmenere (a variety almost unique to Chile).
