Cascina Ballarin
Cascina Ballarin is a family run estate which has been in the hands of the same family since 1928, working the land and the cellars with dedication, passion and in the pursuit of expressing the Piemonte terroir to the fullest. Each site is handled meticulously year round - from winter pruning, through careful management and monitoring of the grapes during the summer ripening period and the final autumn harvest. The estate's vineyards are mainly located in the villages of La Morra and Monforte d'Alba, with mostly local, indigenous varieties including Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto grown. There is also a limited quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon on the estate, a variety that is enjoying a renaissance all over Italy. These grapes are vinified traditionally in the best practices of Piemonte, with Nebbiolo destined for Barolo and Barbera used for the eponymous Barbera d'Alba DOC, with the finest Barbera grapes grown in the Giuli vineyard used in this fine, single vineyard example of premium Barbera wine.
