Maison Sabadie

Masion Sabadie is situated in the very heart of sunny Languedoc in Southern France, where they use mainly traditional Mediterranean varieties that just flourish in their natural environment.Soils at Maison Sabadie are volcanic, and the typically warm and dry Mediterranean climate allows for a long and full ripening period. No pesticides are used in the vineyards, and pruning is short while vines are trained at an angle in order to maximise the exposure to the sun, furthering assisting the ripening process. The vineyards have a relatively low average yield of 75hl/ha. When fully ripe and ready for harvesting, grapes are picked in the extreme early hours of the morning in order to keep them as cool as possible during the transfer to the winery.The wines possess a great depth, cheeky charm and wonderful character form the vineyard’s high density planting, yet low yields. The native Garrigue herbs grow in and around the estate, imparting a wonderfully fresh minerality that is so well known of the area. The vineyards have a complex mixture of soils, ranging from granitic topsoil to subsoil of sand and clay. With the incredibly deep water-table the vines are forced to reach deep into the soil to obtain water during the hot, dry summers, enhancing the delicious mineral character.
