Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is a producer of champagne in Reims, France. It was established in 1776 but in 1833 it was inherited and renamed by Louis Roederer. To this say it is one of the few remaining completely independently family owned, great Champagne house. By 1876 they had reached the reputation for quality they were looking for that they were asked by Tsar Alexander II to create Cristal for the exclusive use by the Russian Tsars, therefore creating the 1st ever Cuveé de Prestige.Roederer grow two thirds are their grapes on their own 230 hectares of vineyards, which is the largest proportion of any champagne house. The Roederer portfolio is extensive and ever growing, they have estates in Bordeaux, another champagne house Deutz, an estate in Portugal, one in Provence and two in California, USA.
