Piedirosso
Piedirosso, said to be named after the resemblance of its red stalks to pigeon feet, is the second most planted black-skinned grape variety of Campania. Wines from this grape are often marked by distinct herbal notes, but have the potential to be generously fruity with a gentle, floral spice. Even though pure varietal wines exist, it is most commonly used in blends with Aglianico to help soften its firm tannins.
