Château L'Argilus du Roi
L'Argilus du Roi is situated in the heart of the Médoc, within the prestigious appellation of Saint-Estéphe.. Owner and winemaker José Bueno has brought his rich experience of 23 years working with Baron Philippe de Rothschild to this small property. The five hectares of vineyards benefit from magnificent gravel soil, which hides at its centre an impressively-sized ball of clay ("argil" in French). It was this unusual feature, together with José Bueno's mother's family name 'du Roi', that inspired him to name this small jewel of land Château L'Argilus du Roi.The vineyards are planted with 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes from each plot are vinified separately in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wines are aged in barrels for 12 - 14 months.
