Bolney Wine Estate
Bolney Wine Estate, the vision of Janet and Rodney Pratt, is situated on a hill which was part of the Butting Hill One Hundred, listed in the Doomsday Book. Village tradition has it that the Prince Regent was a frequent visitor to Bolney when travelling to Brighton, staying at Bolney Lodge of which Bolney Wine Estate formed a part in the 18th Century. The estate was started back in 1972 as Bookers Vineyard, with three acres of vines and has, since those early days, grown to 39 acres and become a specialist red producer. It has been an interesting journey, with a few changes of winemaker along the way, until Samantha Linter took over in the 1990s.Many national and international awards have been won and we are very proud of our achievements to date but we are continually aiming to improve the quality of our wines and in 2005 we invested in a state-of-the-art winery, with help from a DEFRA grant, which really and truly takes us towards our goal of making top quality red, white and traditional method sparkling wines
