Von Buhl lies in the village of Deidesheim in the heart of the Rhineland region of Pfalz and is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the finest producers in the region, making classic wines in the traditional style for decades.The estate boasts a large and eclectic mix of terroir typical of the region, from deep, volcanic Basalt soils to more sandy, granitic sites and vineyards high in ancient oceanic minerality, and amongst this varied terroir, Von Buhl enjoys several grand cru or 'grosses gewachs' vineyards, the fruit from which goes into their single vineyard Rieslings such as Jesuitengarten, Pechstein and Kirchenstuck to name but a few.Riesling dominates the range and is made in the full range of styles, from dry or 'trocken' to the unctuously sweet nectar of beerenauslese and trockenbeerenauslese. A small quantity of red wine is also produced from the local take on Pinot Noir or 'spatburgunder' as it is known, and recently a brand new, state of the art sparkling wine production facility was built, enabling the production of the local sparkler known as 'Sekt', made from the all-starring Riesling.
