Domaine Laporte
Domaine Laporte sits on the edge of the valley known as La Cassure de Sancerre. This unique geological formation is divided into two distinct soil types: limestone hills on one side of the valley, flint hills on the opposite side. Grapes grown on each of these different soils are vinified according to the kind of soil. This careful respect for soil typicity gives each wine an individual expression and personality. The great pride of Laporte is the "Domaine du Rochoy".This slope of 10 ha is very famous for its history and its exceptional Flint soil."Domaine du Rochoy", on the commune of Bannay, is a single slope in Sancerrois. It was formerly a quarry Gallo-Roman called " Rochetum ". The Rochetum of the Gallo-Romans, at the edge of the Catonis Villa overhanging the Loire river, spread under the sun its flint slope which accumulates heat the day and restores it the night. The maturation of the grapes is fast and gives white Sancerre of exception, balanced with delicate mineral scents.
