La Prée Vinette

In 1970, just after the French Revolution, the Simoneau family regained only a hectare of vines on the banks of the river Cher in the Loire Valley, five kilometres from the renowned Château Chenonceau. Since then each generation has devoted themselves to expanding the vineyard, improving the grape quality and, ultimately, wine made.Monsieur André Foissier, Mrs Annie Simoneau’s father, took over the then 18 hectares of vines and 9 hectares of Cerals at the young age of 14 when his father was called for service at the start of the Second World War. In 1977 Antoine Semoneau, Mr Foissier’s son in law, took over the vineyard and increased it by a further 59 hectares. From 1991 and with the help of Mrs Annie Simoneau, they changed the face of the vineyard and start exporting. With careful tending to the vines they strive to produce the best grapes. Extra care is also taken in the winery to bring together the beautiful grapes, the skill and knowledge that they family has passed down to make some outstanding wines.
