One of the pioneers of the English wine industry this West Sussex-based winery has over 50 years of experience crafting elegant, award-winning premium red, white, rosé and sparkling English wines. Cara Lee Dely is head of winemaking and is dedicated to ensuring the 39 hectares of vines are perfectly tended to yield the highest quality grapes. This includes extensive canopy of this management and labour-intensive Sylvos vine training system to mitigate frost damage. The soils are greensand, which retains heat well, and the slopes are south-facing creating ideal conditions for growing their noble Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. The estate recently invested in specialist machinery including a 60 hl press, a new disgorging line, and 8 new stainless steel tanks. All this is to ensure the grapes retain their freshness and aromatic qualities. The Bolney team produce award-winning still and sparkling wines from their famous Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris to their Classic Cuvee, Bolney Bubbly and Blanc de Blancs. Whilst Bolney have been producing wines here in Sussex for 50 years. The UK wine industry is still very young and pioneering creating a platform for exciting times ahead to be innovative and develop the unique style of the region.
