Pelopennese

The Pelopennese region in Western Greece has a winemaking tradition that dates back to Homer who referred to it as Ampeloessa, "full of vines." The geography is diverse spanning mountains, hills and plateaus with a variety of soil types that are home to both indigenous and international varieties. The main appellations in Pelopennese are Nemea, Mantinia and Patras. In Nemea, wines grown on the hilldsides benefit from high altitude, sun exposure and cool nights that slow ripening and allow for the development of complex flavours, balance and structure.
