Priorat
Priorat is a unique region in Catalonia, Spain. It is an isolated region, and as such, up until the early 90s production methods had barely changed since the 12th century. During this decade however, a revolution took place and nowadays the region is rightly famed for its world class wines featuring a unique blend of Garnacha and Carignan, with old, low yielding vines and intensely hot summers combining to produce wines of high ripeness and concentration, and poor, stony soils contributing a characteristic minerality to the wines.
