Sardinia
Sardinia, known as Sardegna in Italian, is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, lying between Sicily and Corsica. The cooling winds from the sea create an ideal Maritime climate in which vines flourish. The variety of topography, microclimates and soils which give wines distinct characteristics. Vermentino is one of the most widely grown, traditional varieties that is thought to have been brought over from the Iberian Peninsula.
