Zagorje

Zagorje, or to give the region its full name - Zagorje-Medjimurje, is a sub-region of inland Croatia, which runs south and east from the eastern tip of Slovenia along the Drava River, a tributary of the Danube. More than two-thirds of the country's production is white wine, and over ninety percent of this is Riesling, but the country is also becoming known as a top producer of other white, especially other aromatic varieties such as Pinot Gris. Wines exhibit an earthy, mineral streak, complemented by full, concentrated aromatic flavours.
