Penedés
Penedés is a wine producing region in north-east Spain within Catalonia. Penedés DO is surrounded by mountains including the Serra del Garraf and is viewed by many as one of the country’s finest regions for wine-production after Spain’s most famous, Rioja. The region produces many fine white wines and several excellent examples of (usually oak-aged) red wine, but is most famous for the country’s signature sparkling wine, Cava, which has been a DO, Denominació d'Origen since 1991.
