Monastrell
Monastrell is the Spanish name for the grape variety known in France as Mourvedre. This black grape enjoys warm, Mediterranean climates such as those found in Spain or Southern France. It buds and ripens extremely late compared to other varieties. The variety often appears (as Mourvedre) as part of the famous southern Rhône blends, but is the principal grape in a handful of wines including Jumilla and Alicante.
