Cerceal

A fresh Douro variety with a light skin, which must not be confused with Maderia’s Sercial. It is usually found in the Dão, Bairrada and Ribatejo wine regions of mainland Portugal. Although single-variety Cerceal do exist there are quite rare, it is more commonly blended with Bical, Baga or Encruzado.Cerceal Branco grapes are thick skinned with medium sized berries that ripen late in the season but are not susceptible to Noble Rot there for producing wines that are light-bodied and fresh, usually adding acidity to white blends. This acidity not only makes them refreshing but gives them great potential to age taking on notes of honey and fennel.
