Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Gerard Seguin, Burgundy, France 2021
Burgundy, France
Tasting Notes
Gerard Seguin Gevrey Chambertin Vielles Vignes 2021. The 2021 vintage was challenging yet rewarding in Burgundy. Frost in spring reduced yields, while a mild summer preserved freshness and acidity. From vines planted in 1920 and 1950 on the stony Combe Grisard alluvial cone, this wine shows precision and depth. Aromas of black fruit, spice, and earth lead to an elegant, concentrated palate with fine tannins and a long finish. Traditional vinification included manual harvest, indigenous yeasts, and 15 days of vatting, followed by 12–18 months on lees in French oak (30% new) from Allier and Limousin.
