Tasting Notes
Wakefield Wines St Andrews Chardonnay 2021. An elegant, cool-climate Chardonnay grown in the Clare Valley's continental climate with warm days and cool nights, this Chardonnay captures vibrant fruit freshness without sacrificing textural richness. Pale straw in color, its bouquet opens with notes of lime zest, white peach, and a hint of grapefruit, underpinned by gentle cashew-nougat complexity from partial French oak aging. The palate showcases rich orchard fruit, which overlays citrus membranes of lemon curd and green apple, supported by vivid acidity and a seamless, subtly nutty oak thread. The finish lingers fresher than many New World Chardonnays, with a floral lift and subtle spice notes.
