Encruzado
A rare variety coming from the Dão region in Portugal, it is high-quality, well-structured and can produce wines with great aging potential. Encruzado has great potential, possibly more than any other white variety in Dão, but it can be a challenge in the winery as it is very prone to oxidation and the loss of its delicate aromas.Encruzado is a very versatile variety producing wines that’s are fresh, full of lemon, violets and flinty minerality, but as these wines age they develop a nuttiness and pine resin, it also marries well with oak and lees aging producing wines that are reminiscent of the great white Burgundy wines. As Portuguese still wines continue to improve and gain an international recognition, we can expect more fantastic things from the wonderful Encruzado.
