Tasting Notes
Spier Creative Block 5 2021. Sourced from vineyards in the Coastal Region, Darling and Stellenbosch, nestled on decomposed granite over clay less than 10 miles from the Atlantic, the cool maritime influence shaped this vintage. A five-varietal Bordeaux blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, offers a dense and layered palate. Rich blackberry, cherry, and blackcurrant are woven with cedar, dark chocolate, licorice, and fennel spice. Eighteen months in French oak adds a fragrant cedar nuance, underscoring the wine’s depth. The finish is vibrant and balanced, boasting juicy fruit and tightly knit tannins. Elegant now, it also promises even greater complexity with further cellaring.
