New Year, New Organic Wines
We are proud to report that we have achieved certification from the Soil Association which makes us one of just a handful of merchants allowed to ship organic wines from countries outside the EU. The first wine that we will be adding to our portfolio in 2018 is the Bodegas Vinecol Los Medanos Organic Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. This family run winery neighbours the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Nacuñán and the family have planted a forest around their vineyards which serves to both promote biodiversity and as a natural barrier to protect the vines against the strong winds of the region.
The Soil Association's mission is to research and promote sustainable relationships between the soil, plants, animals, people and the biosphere, in order to produce healthy food and products while protecting the environment. According to the Soil Association the,
''UK organic market is now in its fifth year of strong growth and worth £2.09 billion. Total sales of organic increased by 7.1% in 2016 while non-organic sales continued to decline. Organic represents around 1.5% of the total UK food and drink market.''
